Buddha-nature by proxy

I had plans today
To stay inside my head
Stretch the afternoon 
Across the couch

But there she stands
Expectant understanding
Flop-eared; child-eyed
And the sun is out

So I smile
Pick up her leash
And off we go
To smell the world
